Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society

Tau Beta Pi - Bent Monument

Before 1957, each chapter made its own pattern for a metal Bent, at considerable expense. Now National Headquarters owns a wood pattern for a 4-foot-high solid Bent, the gift of the dean of engineering at Purdue University. To learn more about obtaining a Bent for your Chapter, read Bent Monuments. At this time, the Association's vendor is only able to produce 4-ft unpolished Bent monuments. The price is $1,875 plus shipping (which runs between $100-$250). Tau Beta Pi is searching for a new vendor for 18" unpolished and polished versions of the Bent monument.

For a diagram of the measurements of a 4-foot Bent Monument, click here. This document refers to the bent as being constructed out of red brass (85% Cu, 5% Pb, 5% Sn, 5% Zn), however they are now constructed from everdur (95% Cu, 4% Si, 1% Mn). To learn about constructing a base for the Bent Monument, read this PDF.
