General Convention
- What is the current status of the 2021 Convention?
The 2021 Convention scheduled for October 21-23, 2021, in Knoxville, TN, has been postponed to a later date in 2022 or 2023. Unlike 2020 when the virtual Unvention was held, a virtual Convention is not planned due to time constraints. - What about the business scheduled to be conducted at the 2021 Convention?
All business scheduled for 2021 will be postponed until the 2022 Convention. - What about the Executive Council elections?
The elections are not currently scheduled to take place. Per the provisions of TBP Const. Art. X, Sec 1, the Councillors whose terms expire on December 31, 2021, will continue in office until their successors are elected. If plans change, we will notify the chapters, but elections are scheduled to take place at the 2022 Convention. - Don't the chapters need to consent to a postponement?
Per TBP Const. Art. X, Sec. 2(i), the chapters need to consent to a postponement exceeding two months. Chapters will be contacted prior to November 1, 2021, to provide this consent. - Are there any activities related to the Convention taking place? What about the Recruiting Fair or Interactive Chapter Exchange (ICE)?
Virtual sessions around the time of Convention were already planned as part of the Engineering Futures Program. All Tau Beta Pi members are invited and encouraged to participate!
The Recruiting Fair (October 18-19) was always planned to be virtual. All Tau Beta Pi members are encouraged to sign up to visit corporate and academic recruiters. Upload your resume here.
Interactive Chapter Exchanges (ICE) are planned for Tuesday-Thursday, October 19-21. Additional information will be coming to chapter leaders by email and is available on Interactive Chapter Exchange Google Site. - Where and when will future Conventions be held?
Tau Beta Pi is currently working with the hotels and convention centers in several cities to reschedule our Convention. The 2022 and 2023 Conventions were scheduled to be in Rapid City, SD, and Atlanta, GA, respectively. This may change due to the postponement of the Knoxville Convention. We will let everyone know once plans are confirmed.
