Planned gifts provide a way to serve and be remembered by future generations. Each gift, small or great, is a gift of lasting value because the engineering profession intrinsically directs the course of society, and Tau Beta Pi members help guide the course of engineering.
Any gift which is transferred with the help of a professional is considered a planned gift. Planned gifts are a tax-wise way of giving and offer benefits to you, the donor, as well as to our organization. Members who have mentioned Tau Beta Pi in their wills automatically belong to The Heritage Society.
There are many ways to establish a tax-advantaged charitable giving program. The following list includes the more common ones. Charitable giving may be reduced to two broad categories: estate gifts and lifetime gifts.

Several members of the Association have asked about the proper form of writing Tau Beta Pi into their wills. Tau Beta Pi is classified as an educational nonprofit corporation under Section 501(c)(3)(not private) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
The proper
form of bequests is:
"I give, devise, and bequeath to The Tau Beta Pi Association, Inc.,
a corporation existing under and by virtue of a charter granted by the
State of Tennessee and with its headquarters in the City of Knoxville,
in said state $...(or, the following described property, or securities.)"
