Executive Council Policy - Alumnus Giving Program Matching Gifts Resolution
At a meeting of the Executive Council of the Tau Beta Pi Association, Inc., in College Park, Maryland, on September 22, 1986, the following resolution was passed unanimously:
Whereas, the Tau Beta Pi Association, Inc., is a non-profit, educational organization, and is classified under Section 501(c)(3)(not-private) of the United States Internal Revenue Code, and gifts and bequests to the Association are tax deductible; and
Whereas, the Tau Beta Pi Association, Inc., derives a significant portion of its revenue from the generous gifts of both thousands of its members and certain employers of those members to the annual Alumnus Giving Program; and
Whereas, the Tau Beta Pi Association, Inc., appropriates a significant portion of its expenses for the Tau Beta Pi Fellowship Program and the Tau Beta Pi Scholarship Program for advancing the interest of the engineering profession;
Now therefore, be it resolved that all matching gifts to the Association from companies and foundations on behalf of their employees, who are also members of Tau Beta Pi, be allocated to the Tau Beta Pi Fellowship Program and/or the Tau Beta Pi Scholarship Program.
