Tau Beta Pi's Planned Giving Society

Members of Tau Beta Pi have always been respectful of its heritage and dedication to the future of the organization. Each person expresses this in his or her own way—many volunteer for a variety of assignments, others serve on committees and boards, many participate regularly in the annual giving fund, and those with vision plan a bequest to Tau Beta Pi in their lifetime. By making a planned gift they know that Tau Beta Pi will not only be there, but will prosper to serve the leaders in engineering in the future.

Join this distinguished roster of loyal Tau Bates (and many others) by becoming a member of The Heritage Society. Remember, there are many ways of giving and your plans are confidential. The Tau Beta Pi Association that you have included Tau Beta Pi in your will at any level, and you are automatically a member. Members will be recognized annually in THE BENT. Here are examples of how some recent planned gifts have benefited Tau Beta Pi:

• A. Clayton Scribner, NY G '29,
  made an unrestricted gift of $135,000 in June 2003, which has been used to establish the Scribner Scholarship Fund.
• Allen R. Orr, TX B ’ 50,
  providedan unrestricted gift of $24,000 to be used for a special TBP project and for an Orr Scholarship.*
• John Benard, MO B ’34,
  madea $5,000 unrestricted gift to update the chapter reporting system on the website and to support a Benard Scholarship.*
• Arthur Maddox, OK A ’30,
  provided $49,000 to fund the Maddox Fellowships.
• W. Brewster Snow, NC G ’32,
  contributed $5,000 to support the Engineering Futures Program.
• Leroy E. Record, KS A ’29,
  made a restricted gift of $4.3 million to create the Record Scholarship Fund* and to support annual awards in perpetuity.
• John King Mayer’s (LA B ’30)
  unrestricted gift of $3,000 is used in support of the Engineering Futures Program.

* Note—The Scholarship Program, established in 1998 with a gift from an alumnus to award several $2,000 scholarships annually, has grown with recent bequests from nine awards in 1999 to 145 in 2008. Growth projections forecast funding 150 or more annual scholarship awards for several years.
