1. Gave the R.C. Matthews Outstanding Chapter Award for
1998-99 to Michigan Epsilon, with honorable mentions to Ohio Gamma, Ohio Iota, and Vermont
Beta.
2. Gave the R.H. Nagel Most Improved Chapter Award for
1998-99 to Florida Beta, with honorable mentions to District of Columbia Gamma and
Louisiana Gamma.
3. Accepted Michigan Epsilon's invitation to host the 2002
Convention in Detroit.
4. Applauded the presentation of 35 Chapter Project Awards
for excellent project work in 1998-99 to:Alaska Alpha, California Alpha, California Chi,

Rikke Uslev Pedersen of Arizona Gamma and Tracey C. Ho of Massachusetts Beta.
9. Applauded the announcement of the 1999 Tau Beta Pi
National Outstanding Advisor -- Dr. E.R. Fowler of Kansas Gamma.
10. Extended the trial period for another three years of
the renamed Tau Beta Pi Distinguished Alumnus Award Program, modified the basis for
nomination and selection, enhanced the publicity, and applauded the announcement of the
winner of the 1999 Tau Beta Pi Distinguished Alumnus Award - General Robert T. Herres, OH
H '60, chairman and chief executive officer of USAA, nominated by the Ohio Eta
Chapter.
11. Revised the Ritual for the initiation of Sigma Tau
members and the history of the Woman's Badge.
12. Determined allowable delegate expenses for the 2000
Convention beyond those stated in Bylaw I, Sec. 1.06, to be the same as the reimbursement
schedule for the 1999 Convention.
13. Decided to reimburse 20% of the cost of a
coach/super-saver airline ticket purchased by the travel-plan deadline for one non-voting
delegate per chapter, up to $200 reimbursement.
14. Reviewed issues which would arise with a petition from
an international institution and referred that topic to a task force for further study and
to report to the 2000 Convention.
15. Saw the new Tau Beta Pi image materials developed by
the Executive Council and a marketing firm for the 1999 Convention as requested by the
1998 Convention.
16. Continued the existing policy on the reimbursement of
child-care expenses of voting delegates.
17. Applauded the winners of the lighting-system design
competition, Michigan Theta and Ohio Beta, which each won $500 scholarships.
