The National Management Committee of Tau Beta Pi's MindSET Program challenged students at 2009 District meetings to brainstorm and submit logos for the MindSET Program. More than 40 submissions were received at Tau Beta Pi's International Headquarters,
In the fall, two logos were created with inspiration from submissions at the District 10 Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. The logos were put to a vote by Tau Beta Pi's Executive Council and District Directors. Both logos had strong support, but in the end the "atom" design was chosen.
In the final months leading up to the 2009 Convention, changes and additions were made to the atom logo. The logo represents the STEM (science, technology, engineering, & math) disciplines and the four primary roles of the MindSET Program in improving K-12 student success in math and science through the cooperation of the students, parents, and teachers, with student assessment tools.
Klint submitted the atom concept with the rings around the bent and writing wrapped around the rings. He is a mechanical engineering graduate of Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
Samuel submitted a wonderfully illustrated brain with MindSET and technological advancements, such as planes and rockets, emerging from the brain. While Samuel's brain concept is not the MindSET logo, there is a strong possibility that aspects of this concept will be used in future "image material" for the MindSET Program. Samuel is majoring in chemical engineering and is president of the Louisiana Gamma Chapter of Tau Beta Pi.
