The Executive Council met by teleconference on May 14, 2007.

The Council enthusiastically voted a TBP Distinguished Service Award and Resolutions of Appreciation to retiring District Directors M.J. Cunningham, Dr. K.L. Colbry, R.P. King, and M.D. Soriano.

The Council noted the receipt of a bequest of $219,964 from the estates of Rena Miller Arm and David L. Arm, PA E ’30, and established the David L. Arm Fellowship Fund. The Council noted the receipt of $58,500 from the estate of Dr. Richard A. Curtis, OH A ’64, and established the Richard A. Curtis Scholarship Fund.

Rodger F. Smith, WI A ’64, was re-appointed as Chair of the Trust Advisory Committee for a term ending June 30, 2013, and Harry W. Lange, MI Z ’75, was appointed to the Trust Advisory Committee to a term ending June 30, 2009.

The Council reviewed plans for the 2007 and 2008 Conventions and made final arrangements for the June 9 meeting of National Officers and Directors. Andrew J. Flowerday, MI I ’02, and Dr. Matthew W. Ohland, FL A ’96, were appointed as District 7 and 8 Directors, respectively.

Executive Director J.D. Froula reported that the TBP Engineering Futures Program was featured in the May 2007 issue of PE and that the Summer 2006 issue of THE BENT received a 2007 American Inhouse Design Award from Graphic Design USA.

The Council reviewed the progress of the Tau Beta Pi National K-12 Math & Science Initiative and agreed to place an ad on the website seeking candidates for the K-12 National Management Committee.

The Council modified the official travel policy to limit changes in the private automobile reimbursement rate to the beginning of the fiscal year.

The Council approved a new benefit proposal from Geico for automobile insurance products for members.
