In a meeting by teleconference, the Council’s first action was the election of its and the Association’s officers for the 2006-10 term: L.A. Simonson, President; S.C. Dao, Vice President; and J.A. Huggins, Secretary of the Council.
In compliance with the 1981 Convention procedure for site choices, the joint invitation of California Lambda/Upsilon to host the 2008 meeting in Sacramento was accepted.
The Council reviewed plans for organizing the Tau Beta Pi National K-12 Math & Science Initiative.
Vice President Dao summarized her meeting with the Engineering Futures Planning Committee and Facilitators at the 2006 Convention. She reviewed recommendations from the ad hoc Advisors Committee at the 2006 Convention and her plans to solicit volunteers for the Chapter Advisor Recruitment and Development Committee.
Executive Director J.D. Froula reviewed the proposed 2007 officers’ travel schedule. Plans were made to encourage District Directors to invite local alumni to attend the 2007 Spring Conferences.
Rebecca A. Holcomb and Catherine M. Gorzkowski were appointed as members of the ICE Committee to terms ending in June 2008 and June 2009, respectively.
