The Executive Council met in Tukwila, WA, on August 21, 2004.

The Council enthusiastically voted two TBP Superior Service Awards and three TBP Resolutions of Appreciation to retiring advisors of the collegiate chapters and voted Exemplary Service Awards to retiring Engineering Futures Facilitators Ames C. Hwang and Jason H. Schneider.

The Council re-appointed as Engineering Futures Facilitators for 2004-05: R.R. Andre; and for 2004-07: Y.C. Chang, S.P. DeCabooter, S.M. Deckter, N.F. Gray, J.A. Huggins, I.H. Klestadt, F.A. Leon, J.R. Luchini, M.L. Peterson, R.W. Pierce, and L.A. Rine.

The Council re-appointed M.D. Malmstrom, PA I ’97, as District 3 Director for 2004-07. The Council reviewed arrangements for the October 7 meeting of National Officers and Directors in Orlando, FL, and decided to hold the June 4, 2005, meeting of National Officers and Directors in either Charleston, SC, or Burlington, VT.

The Council discussed recent communications on issues and questions of engineering-curriculum eligibility.

The Council reviewed the Membership Study Report for 2003-04 indicating that a significant number of engineering students continues to seem uninterested in TBP membership. There are actions being taken to address this concern.

Executive Director J.D. Froula reported on the status of the 2004 Alumni Giving Program and the status of various information-technology improvements; his fourth-quarter financial report of the fiscal year had been sent to the Council and was accepted, along with his annual report. The Council accepted the report of the meeting of the Financial Development Committee on June 26 in Knoxville, TN.

The Council rescinded obsolete policies and revised the Policies, Practices, and Fees Document. Council approved plans to host a reception at the ASEE annual conference on June 27, 2005, in Portland, OR.

Vice President E.D. Styles reported on the status of the TBP National Project—The Bicycle Project, and the Council reviewed and amended the TBP Strategic Plan.
