The Executive Council met in Lubbock, TX, on October 22, 2003.

The Council enthusiastically voted three TBP Superior Service Awards and four Resolutions of Appreciation to retiring advisors of the collegiate chapters and voted Distinguished Service Awards to retiring District 10 Director A.S. Plaskota, TX H ’99, and Director of Rituals A.R. Hirsch, MA B ’66. E.J. D’Avignon, NY B ’88, was appointed as Director of Rituals to a term ending June 30, 2007.

The Council reviewed the inspection report of the visit to a petitioning group at the University of California, Riverside; that petition will be presented to the 2004 Convention. The eligibility of a candidate under consideration as an eminent engineer was approved.

The Council reviewed final plans for the meeting of National Officials on October 23, 2003. Mr. Froula reviewed the final program and logistical details of the 2003 Convention. President M.W. Ohland reviewed his President’s Report for 2002-03.

Robert C. Rogers, P.E., OH D ’89; Jike Chong, PA G ’01; Brian W. Crenshaw, TN A ’97; and Farrokh Najmabadi, CA Y ’76, were appointed as District 7, 10, 10, and 16 Directors respectively to terms ending in June 2006. The Council accepted updated conflict-of-interest documents from several officers and named Colorado Springs, CO, as the site of the June 19, 2004, meeting of National Officials.

Executive Director J.D. Froula reported on the status of the 2003 Alumni Giving Program and various information-technology improvements. The Council noted a bequest from the estate of A. Hamilton Powell, MA A ’37, and named a 2004 TBP-Powell Fellowship. Gary A. Schneck, KS G ’75, was appointed to the 2003-04 Financial Review Committee. The report of the auditor was reviewed and given careful consideration. Crowe-Chizek, LLP, was appointed as auditor for the next three years.

The Council approved a new TBP Employee Premium Conversion Plan and minor modifications to the TBP Health Insurance Plan. A salary adjustment for the Executive Director was approved.

The preliminary design of a new TBP informational brochure was reviewed and revised. The Council amended and approved a new Policy on Governing Style. Approval was given to a partnership with a national recruiting organization that sponsors career fairs and expositions in several cities, Women for Hire.
