The Council enthusiastically voted a Tau Beta Pi Resolution of Appreciation to a retiring advisor of a collegiate chapter. Secretary-Treasurer J.D. Froula reported on the status of the 1999 Alumni Giving Program, and the Council approved a change in the Tau Beta Pi Employee Retirement Plan. The Council noted that an Engineering Futures Facilitator has a new business relationship with Interact, the firm that provided materials for the Futures Program.

Vice President E.J. D'Avignon reviewed final plans for the meeting of National Officials on October 7. The Secretary-Treasurer reviewed final program and logistical details of the 1999 Convention. President Douglas M. Green reviewed his President's report for 1998-99.

The Council appointed Amy J. Smaistrla, TX H '99, as District 10 Director for a three-year term. Annapolis, MD, was chosen as the location for the June 10, 2000, meeting of National Officials.

The annual report of the auditor was reviewed and given careful consideration; the report shows a generally strong condition for Tau Beta Pi, with only one chapter experiencing financial difficulty. A concern that additional personnel be used to handle contribution receipts was noted. Four strategies and tests to implement in the 2000 Alumni Giving Program were reviewed and approved.

President Green reported on the results of a meeting with the Trust Advisory Committee in New York City on September 7, and the Council expressed its satisfaction with the current management of the committee. The Council received and reviewed the response of the Trust Advisory Committee to the recommendations of the 1999 Financial Review Committee.

The draft report on implementing an information technology assessment and strategic plan for Tau Beta Pi from Q Systems, Inc., was received and reviewed.

Councillor C.P. Rice reviewed the status of the new marketing program and potential staffing requirements.

Salary adjustments for the Secretary-Treasurer and Assistant Secretary-Treasurer were approved.
