The Executive Council, or board of directors, is a group of alumnus members elected by the Convention to lead the Association, under the provisions of the Constitution and Bylaws and the Acts of the Convention. It guides the national programs of Tau Beta Pi through a full-time Executive Director, whose offices at the University of Tennessee are the headquarters of the Association, and other national officials whom it appoints. All actions taken by the Council or the national officers are reported back to the Convention.
The current Executive Council, pictured below, comprises: President Douglas M. Green, Texas Beta ’65, P.E., Ph.D., dean of engineering at Marquette University; Vice President Edward J. D’Avignon, New York Beta ’88, a design engineer at Vitesse Semiconductor Corp.in Minneapolis; Councillor Jerome A. Atkins, District of Columbia Alpha ’63, dean of technology and engineering programs at Regents College; Councillor George D. Peterson, Ohio Eta ’72, P.E., Ph.D., executive director of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc.; and Councillor Catherine P. Rice, Maryland Beta ’83, P.E., special assistant to the director of the Maryland State Highway Administration’s office of planning and preliminary engineering.
