IRS E-postcard (Form 990-N)
Many chapters have contacted Headquarters regarding a letter from the IRS. Chapters will be required to visit the IRS website to submit this online only report no later than the 15th day of the 5th month following the close of the chapter's fiscal year. Example: chapter fiscal year ends May 31; e-postcard is due by October 15.
This is a required report for receiving a Secretary's Commendation. Failure to submit this report will result in a chapter losing its tax exempt status and could result in probation.

- The e-Postcard will require you to provide the following information:
- Organization’s legal name,
- The Tau Beta Pi Association, Inc; XX XX chapter.
- Any other names your organization uses,
- Organization’s mailing address,
- Chapter's mailing address.
- Organization’s website address (if applicable),
- If chapter has a website.
- Organization’s employer identification number (EIN),
- Name and address of a principal officer of your organization,
- Organization’s annual tax period,
- Fiscal year listed in Chapter bylaws.
- A statement that your organization’s annual gross receipts are still normally $25,000 or less, and
- If not, notify Headquarters immediately!!
- If applicable, indicate if your organization is terminating (going out of business).
