Chapter Treasurers are responsible for the financial health of their chapter. This page contains information about the initiation fee, billing process, and making payments to Headquarters. Additional resources for treasurers are also included.
Each chapter of Tau Beta Pi sets its own initiation fee. Chapter officers are the best resource to determine the total fee. In 2011, the average fee was $75.
The current Association fee is $39, which includes the $32 initiation fee (set in August 2004) and a $7 Convention assessment (set in August 2008). The $32 includes:
Loans are available for students who cannot afford the initiation fee. No student should decline membership because of cost! A life subscription to THE BENT is $60, and the remaining portion of a 4-year subscription can be applied to a life subscription to the magazine.
Initiation fees and Convention assessments are due to Headquarters within two weeks after each initiation. Please contact if your school requires an invoice or bill prior to releasing these funds. You can also order supplies and materials from Headquarters and have the items billed to your chapter account. Monthly statements/invoices are mailed to each chapter treasurer, president, and chief advisor showing all charges, credits, and balance due.
Promptly pay Headquarters each month after receiving your chapter's invoice/statement. You can pay your balance by check or credit card. When paying your initiation fees, send a SINGLE check; do not send individual checks or cash from initiates. A $25 returned check charge for lack of funds will be billed to your account.
